Our
Home Group "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, ... and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the end of the age." Matthew 28:19-20 NIV Last year, we covered Ten Commandments, with J. John's videos and study guide and ended sometime in November. Starting January 2003, every Thursday, we are gathering for the study of John Gospel. With 8 to 10 other Church members, and the study guide to John Gospel, we would gather and study together our Lord Jesus Christ, His life and our Heavenly Father's love, grace and mercy. After each week, members are welcome to write us with any questions or issues not raised during the sessions. The Bible is not just another book, it is God's revelation about himself and his Son, Jesus Christ. It is Good News for all people everywhere - a message both to be understood and be applied in daily life. As Christians, we should therefore read the Bible regularly. Come to it with faith, with expectancy and most importantly, with willingness to submit our wills to God's will as He reveals it through our reading. "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path." Psalms 119:105 Our Experience with the Alpha Course "When I came to you, brothers, I did not come with eloquence or superior wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God. For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. I came to you in weakness and fear, and with much trembling. My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit's power, so that your faith might not rest on men's wisdom, but on God's power." 1Corinthians 2:1-5 We have attended the Alpha course a few times, initially to find out what it's all about, then came wanting answers for our problems. Finally, we came to a realisation that each time we attend, we receive new insights, not solutions to our problems, but an answer to the purpose of our lives. We have seen people changed through Alpha, some receive Christ, while others healed of either physical, mental or emotional burdens. The joy and excitement being involved in Alpha is amazing, the feeling is difficult to express. There are more testimonies from people, just like you and me, on the Alpha website (www.alpha.org.sg). And if you are further curious, there's a list of Churches on the website where you pick one nearest to you and write to them. Our Experience and Commitment in Prayer Ministry He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well." Mark 16:15-18 NIV We were guided in the Prayer Ministry course led by Gareth Thomas, one of our fellow Church senior members at St. Georges. With his notes, inspired and led by God and written comprehensively, we learnt how to pray to God and for people. From the course, we see the Grace of God, His intention and His wonderful works. Truly amazing, by understanding the basics of prayer and having a sincere willing heart to prayer for others and ourselves, gave us the answer to all aspects and purpose of our lives. "Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law." Psalms 119:18
May God bring about peace in your lives and bless you all abundantly!
